When we were asked to create a blog (I had to read up on what a blog is…really!) and write weekly about our research, I wasn’t sure how this would support my learning. After writing a few blogs these last few weeks I am starting to see the potential benefit. I need not be so formal, as in our papers, I have the luxury of working through language, ideas and reflect on them in this forum. Nackerud and Scaletta (2008) explain, “A blog may not lead immediately to reflective writing, but it may give students an experimental writing space where it becomes more likely with time” (p.75). Elizabeth stated she was hopeful that blogging would be a way for us to follow our growth through this graduate program and beyond this first session.
As time consuming as this is, I think it is cathartic and it is helping me work through language and practice writing.
